2016 MIDSUMMER PIANO RETREAT IN PRAGUE
A retreat for immersive piano study in Prague, Czech Republic
Joel Hastings, Florida State University
David Kalhous, Florida State University
Thursday, June 30 - Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Students are expected to arrive in Prague on Wednesday, June 29.
For students staying at Hotel Marketa, transportation from the airport can be arranged through the hotel with advance notice. It is the responsibility of the student to make this arrangement with the hotel prior to arrival. Lessons will begin on June 30. Each student will receive four one-hour lessons, and all students will have the opportunity to play in a masterclass with Faculty teachers, as well as a public recital in Prague.
Tuition $550 USD ($450 for lessons, $100 for facilities/administrative fee)
$100 facilities/administrative fee is to be paid directly to the applicant's main instructor by April 15, 2016.
$450 payment is due on the first day of the retreat, June 30. Airfare, hotel, and meals are not included and are the student's responsibility.
All private lessons, masterclasses, and practice sessions will take place at the Jan Hanus Art School.
ACCOMODATIONS AND MEALS
Students are responsible for booking their own hotel accommodations. We strongly suggest booking a room at Hotel Marketa, which is a short walking distance to the school. Sharing rooms with other students (the hotel has doubles and a few triples) can decrease the cost considerably. We require that all students find lodging within a half mile from the school's location.
Hotel Marketa offers a special rate that includes breakfast (last year's rate around $45 USD/night). All other meals are at the student's expense. There is a grocery store very close to the hotel and school, and many restaurants nearby.
Excursions can be arranged through Ecce Prague, a company specializing in educational trips. Interested students should contact David Kalhous by April 15.
